Morgendorffer is a decorated veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, dying one month after being placed on desk duty in July of 1976. In [[It's All About Respect]], [[Kyle Armalin]] recalls reading about him during basic (actually, Plebe Summer at Annapolis) and has a high level of respect for him.
