Daria's Sick, Sad Life Planner is a 1999 app developed by Hypnotix and published by Simon & Schuster Interactive.
It acts as a digital journal, address book, calendar, and planner with Daria-based themes, graphics, and quotes, as well as video and audio clips. The audio clips features, as the box proclaims, the voices of all your favourite characters "as well as some you don't like". Feature include:
- Trent Lane's song Summer Sucks
- Facts about certain dates, with gags about them read out by the characters
- Character statements on specific holidays and events, like Sandi Griffin showing you a drawing of "your butt on Thanksgiving"
- Several screensavers themed around episodes, one being The Daria Hunter with characters firing paintballs at your screen
- Emails
- Notes
- Clips of episodes
Alice Keim from The New York Times, an admitted Daria fan, gave the program a mixed review, stating that while the tools and accessories were useful, the Daria extras such as the screensavers and icons were disappointing. Keim also commented: "as I typed daily musings into the journal, I found my own inner Daria scowling through. It becomes nearly impossible to write anything overly enthusiastic or optimistic in this journal. The program includes an address book, but when you add a buddy, the somber Daria comments, Great, another person who pretends they like you. For a teenager predisposed to thinking this way, the Daria journal offers encouragement -- maybe too much."
