Driving Miss Daria
A Daria fanfic by The Angst Guy. It was written based on a challenge to write a story pairing Daria with a certain male character (kept hidden in the story's summary) and including the phrase "If we can put a man on the moon, then..." somewhere in the story.

The story is set when Daria is at college, married to but apparently abandoned by Trent Lane. While working on a term paper she receives an unexpected visit by Ted Dewitt-Clinton, who has an elephant in the driveway of her apartment building. (Ted works at a zoo now.) Jane is also present, having apparently been in touch with Ted for a while and aware that he is still carrying a torch for Daria.
The challenge phrase comes up when Daria comments that if you can put a man on the moon, they could get the trained elephant on Oprah.
