Joycean Writers

Whilst not a formally organised group, Joycean Writers is a collective term for Dariafic authors whose work is largely inspired by Irish novelist James Joyce. So far, the only two writers in the fandom whose work can be considered "Joycean" are:

Common Themes In Joycean Fiction[edit]

Note: These themes are general guidelines and may not apply to all writers on the list or otherwise.

  • Tendency to narrate little action by using many words
  • Purposeful genreswitching, or genrebending
  • Excessive use of allusions, puns, and private jokes
  • Excessive use of stream of consciousness technique
  • Portrayal of sexual themes as ominous and threatening
  • Imposition of artificial boundaries and rules upon one's own writing
  • Frequent deviation from plot
