Keenak
Keenak is a hippie friend of Helen and Jake, created for fanfiction by C.E. Forman.
He appeared in The Lost Seasons story "Fireworks", set in 1968, Overweight and given to public displays of nudity, Keenak subscribed to the laid-back philosophy: "If it feels good, do it." He avoided the Vietnam War by failing the army physical test.
In 1968, he was part of the group that took over the dean's office in a successful protest against Middleton College's segregationist policies.
His family ran a self-sufficient commune in San Francisco, where he and the rest of the "gang" lived for a few years following graduation. In 1975, he presided over Jake and Helen's wedding.
In other fanfiction[edit]
In "The Age of Cynicism," Kara Wild indicated that by 1980, Keenak was going by his first name, Calvin, and had become somewhat square and yuppyish, driving a new Japanese car. (In "Fireworks," Keenak's first name was not given.) Calvin Keenak has also married Serenity, who by 1980 goes by her given name, Vanessa.
Trivia[edit]
Forman developed Keenak and the other characters from the flashback scenes in "That Was Then, This Is Dumb."
