Kelly Springer

Kelly Elizabeth Springer is a fictional character in the Legion of Lawndale Heroes series, and a member of The Alliance. A Cadet Second Class (like all members of Training Cadre 2996), Kelly in majoring in aerospace engineering with a minor in physics (yes, she is a rocket scientist) and is, along with Zoey Robertson and David Allen Farrington, one of the smartest members of The Alliance. She is one of the team's designated pilots (David Allen is the other). She began learning to fly at age ten and is fully rated on prop-driven, multi-engine and jet aircraft, with over 300 hours in jets (including thirty-five hours in a variant of the Aurora recon aircraft, one of several aircraft which she learned to fly during her internship year, spent at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Kelly graduated eighth in her class from USAES. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering; because of her academic and personal achievements, Kelly was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

Kelly is 5'11" in height, with blonde hair and dark green eyes. She is unusually slender (but not unhealthy - 'lanky' would be the proper term) but attractive. (She is considered to have the best legs of any of the Alliance girls, and has been approached several times to consider fashion modeling as a career.) She is slightly shy in personality, but is just as driven as the other cadets. She is also a closeted lesbian, and although the other members of her cadre are aware of this, she has not 'outed' herself for fear that she will be dismissed from military service (which she wishes to remain a part of, so that she can fly advanced aircraft). She speaks perfect German, and her accent is recognizable as being of the Alsatian dialect. Born and raised in the 'bluegrass' of Kentucky, Kelly has always had an interest in horses and is an accomplished equestrian. She also enjoys metalworking; in keeping with Professor Blumenberg's belief in each Alliance member having an 'alternate skill-set', Kelly has become a competent 'armorer', and well-versed in the art of making and repairing medieval-age weapons and armor. She is a perennial attendee at the annual USAES 'Renaissance Fair', and is also an excellent archer.

Kelly has the metahuman abilities of superhuman strength, speed, flight and invulnerability. Her power levels in each ability are approximately 1.5 times greater than that of a physically-fit Kryptonian (for example, Kelly can easily fly faster than the speed of light, and has survived massive nuclear detonations at point-blank range with no harm whatsoever). In addition, Kelly has an enhanced resistance to magical powers and magically-enhanced effects. In effect, Kelly is the strongest member of The Alliance and among the most powerful cadets to ever attend the United States Academy of Extranormal Studies. However, Kelly is vulnerable to psionic attacks, which can render her unconscious or comatose (but not kill her).
