Kill Tom Fic

Certain fandoms have seen the appearance of antifics, better known as Kill X fics, where X is the name of an especially hated character within a particular fandom. In such stories, the disliked individual is tormented and killed in what is usually a particularly dreadful manner. The Fanfiction Glossary cites examples from three well-known media fandoms, namely Wesley Crusher (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Joxer (Xena: Warrior Princess), and Jar Jar Binks (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace).

In Daria fandom, one character stands out when the issue of Kill X fics is brought up, and that is Tom Sloane. The reason why he is so reviled by many in the fandom is because of The Kiss, the culmination of the romantic triangle that developed through the fourth and fifth seasons of Daria. The issue has been beaten to death many times, but like a ghastly undead phoenix manages to rise anew from the ashes and spawn a new round of Kill Tom fanfics.
