The Lawndale Lowdown is the school newspaper at Lawndale High School first mentioned mentioned in the episode, "Quinn the Brain", where Quinn's essay ends up in the Smart Thoughts Column. In "A Tree Grows in Lawndale", it reports on Kevin doing safety lectures. In "Fizz Ed", it is mentioned that Ultra Cola retained their ads in the paper after the scaling back of the deal the company had with Lawndale High.

In The Daria Diaries, it is revealed that Jodie has a regular column in the paper and Brittany runs an agony aunt feature called Dear Brittany.

The "Lowdown" is used in several fanfiction works, including Kara Wild's Driven Wild Universe and Richard Lobinske's John Lane series.
