The band is mainly influenced by alternative rock and alternative metal. Trent's name itself has been suspected of deriving from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, with the name Mystik Spiral deriving from the Nine Inch Nails album, ''The Downward Spiral''. Trent's appearance also largely resembles Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction.
