Relationship with Quinn
Sandi is the self-appointed ruler of small but influential clique, the Fashion Club, and is the group's undisputed queen bee—until the arrival of Quinn Morgendorffer, that is. Initially, she seemed friendly to Quinn and almost immediately made her the VP of the Fashion Club. It wasn't long, however, before Sandi became intensely jealous of Quinn's greater popularity and cuteness (starting at "Too Cute").
Line 34 ⟶ 36:
Sandi frequently tries to deflate Quinn's popularity and often well-meaning suggestions. She recruits the remaining Fashion Club members to oppose Quinn's plans by playing against their insecurities and leaving them no choice but to follow suit. For the most part, Sandi's vengeance is usually quelled by Quinn's remarkable good fortune and incurable popularity. In the episode "Daria Dance Party," Sandi deliberately abandons Quinn when she volunteers the Fashion Club as the leaders of the school dance committee (due to a "traumatic" event in her preteens when she became overwhelmed with planning a dance; in response to this, her mother told her that "to volunteer is to say 'use me'"). Instead, Sandi plans an unsupervised house party on the very same night, tempting guests to attend with promises of free pizza, a big screen television, and an outdoor hot tub. The plot is foiled, however, when the boys invited to Sandi's party make a hasty exit after discovering that Quinn will not be attending. Similarly, in the episode "Just Add Water", Sandi delights in the opportunity to publicly humiliate Quinn by speculating and gossiping about the possibility of Quinn being stood up by her date, Marco, "the talcum powder model." This plan, too, backfires, as Quinn feigns strength and independence and Sandi is eventually dumped by her date, Brent.

Although Sandi and Quinn are often at odds, there is a measure of sincerity in their friendship. When Sandi unexpectedly gains weight in "Fat Like Me," she withdraws from the Fashion Club out of embarrassment and shame. In an attempt to kill Quinn's chances of succeeding as Fashion Club President, Sandi manipulates Quinn into surrendering her position as Vice President, supposedly "out of respect for [their] friendship." Although flustered, Quinn continually visits and cares for Sandi, and is the only club member who is actually bothered Sandi has gone. When Quinn decides to help Sandi lose weight and come back to school, Sandi is driven to tears by this act of kindness, and the two girls declare their love and appreciation of one another. (She never find out that Daria tricked Quinn into doing it by inventing a threat to her popularity) At the end of the episode, Sandi has mostly returned to her normal vindictive self, only slightly changed by her experience—but she never afterward speaks ill of Quinn or treats her badly.
Line 70 ⟶ 72:
The MTV "Fashion Club Guide to Digital Dating" website revealed that Sandi has to look outside of Lawndale to find dates, due to "a completely undeserved reputation for paranoia and viciousness. When I find out who's behind those rumors I will skin them alive."

In "Is It College Yet?" had, Sandi losegets laryngitis and loses her voice. Stacy believed this was due to athe viralfact infection, that whichshe Stacymade believeda waswish duefor toher herbirthday wishingthat Sandi would "just shut up". Despite Stacy's terror of Sandi finding out and her desire to placate her, when Sandi gave her a list of tasks to make up for it, Stacy refused. This started a wave of Fashion Club members taking indefinite sabbaticals, and in the face of that Sandi claimed that she too had been thinking of doing that anyway. Despite no longer being a formal club, they continued to be friends and hang out talking about fashion anyway...

Fanfic Stereotypes
Rockstar Sandi
In Fashion Club Entertainment by TommyXmaserati, Sandi becomes frontwoman and co-founder of an indie rock band comprised of the Fashion Club.

Bitch Sandi
Sandi Griffin's less engaging behaviors often lead her to be pegged in fanfic as a four-star power-hungry bitch. Sympathetic portrayals of her are not common. (Kara Wild's "Outvoted" and "Quinnicitis" are excellent examples.) InThis Wouter'sdepiction Dariarotica story "Party at Lindy's" when Quinn is imaginingof her friends in sexual situations, she depicts Sandi as thean kindantagonist ofand personall-around whojerk wouldgoes probablyright like rough sex, because of her bossy nature. In that same story Sandi is seen telling in detail about her, alleged, sexual encountersback to a severely emberassed Quinn taking delight into making Quinn feel uncomfortable. Although in the lunchroomearly scene where Quinn gives her friends an unwilling carte-blanche into her erotic encounter, Sandi is seen with a lookdays of pure disbelieve on her face. And in "Through a Webcam Lens Darkly" Sandi is all too happy to place a webcam in Quinn's room so that her brothers can peek in on her. When Sam asks why she went along with it because of she and Quinn are supposed to be friends, Sandi replied by saying that she had her own reasons and left it at thatfanfics.

Notably, she's often shown being a bitch to Daria even though the characters ignored each other most of the time in the show. If fanfic writers wanted a 'mean girl' to take on Daria's unpopular self, Sandi was ready made. An early example includes C.E. Forman's "All Washed Up", where Sandi targets Daria for bullying.

Redeemed Sandi
Fanfiction occasionally depicts a Sandi Griffin who seeks redemption for her various sins. A "Redeemed Sandi" has usually passed through horrifying experiences, not always as a result of her own actions, and is at or near the bottom of her life, emotionally and spiritually.
Fanfiction occasionally depicts a Sandi Griffin who seeks redemption for her various sins. A "Redeemed Sandi" has usually passed through horrifying experiences, not always as a result of her own actions, and is at or near the bottom of her life, emotionally and spiritually. One fanfic writer who has embraced this concept is Brother Grimace; many of his fanfics, most notably "It's All About Respect" and "The Devil in Miss Morgendorffer," make extensive use of this plot device. Sandis who have been transformed by suffering, either self-caused or accidentally, appear in Kara Wild's Driven Wild Universe, Richard Lobinske's Falling Into College series, Canadibrit's The Look Alike Series, and TAG's "Winter in Hell," "Nine Point Oh," and "When the Torrent of That Time Comes Pouring Back." In recent episodes of Legion of Lawndale Heroes, events seem to indicate that Sandi is taking a similar turn for the better. A more toned down version of Redeemed Sandi appears in Wouter's comic "A Tight situation" where her briefing Stacy about conducting "Serious research is of great value for any future fashion club" shows that she already is putting in some effort to make sure that the Fashion club she was president of would continue to help out others once she graduates. In that same story, after Stacy finishes her report Sandi applauds her fellow club member and asks Quinn and Tiffany to join in. In "Dinner at Tiffany's" Sandi at first dumps her date on Tiffany but is genuinely concerned and angry when finding out about Robert having taken her on a "Cheerleader date" (A kind of date where getting laid is the sole purpose.) and blushes furiously when Robert tells her on why it all went astray.

Another angle is to add that Sandi was already a deeper and less nasty person that she seemed. YouthOfOz's "The Life Trilogy" take this path by focusing on Sandi's unrequited love for Daria and how this has partially driven Sandi's actions in the show.

Lesbian Sandi
Multiple fanfictions have depicted Sandi as a lesbian. Much of the lore regarding Sandi's sexuality has to do with many factors. Some believe that Sandi's resentment towards Quinn stemmed from the fact that Sandi was attracted to Quinn, but grew increasingly bitter due to Quinn's many dates and interactions with boys that kept Sandi from being with her "lover". Fanfiction writer Gystex noted that throughout the show, Sandi made attempts to sabotage Quinn's romantic interests without actually dating a guy herself. Why? She wants Quinn. According to Gystex, Sandi is frustrated because her love interest (Quinn) is right in front of her yet totally unreachable. Thus, Sandi sabotages Quinn on a regular basis, because if she can't have Quinn, no one can. The Passion Club, a fanfiction by Gystex, depicts Sandi and Quinn as lesbian lovers. The story also explores experimentation between other members of the Fashion Club, such as between Stacy and Jane, as well as between Stacy and Tiffany.

* Janie Mertz also provided the talent for characters Brittany Taylor, and Sandi's mother, Linda. Sandi speaks in a low, sonorous voice, while Brittany's speech is high pitched and squeaky. Both characters' voices have a similar amount of stress and intonation in their speech patterns.
