The Daria Diaries as well as [[The Daria Database]] have provided additional information and different perspectives on characters and canon events that many authors have used and expanded upon for their stories. These background tidbits range from [[Claire Defoe]]'s over-populated studio apartment to Daria having a prison pen-pal. The character of [[Danny Moreno]] has also turned up. It has also furthered the trope of the Lane's being poverty-stricken and their parents being "benignly" neglectful, as the book shows the house to be a mess and the parents often absent.
