The current headquarters of the SPC is located at [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nellis_Air_Force_Base Nellis Air Force Base outside Las Vegas, Nevada]. It was moved to Nellis from Cannon AFB in 1962 shortly after the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Missile_Crisis Cuban Missile Crisis]. President [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F._Kennedy John F. Kennedy] and his brothers Attorney General [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_F._Kennedy Robert Kennedy] and [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Kennedy Edward Kennedy] (all of whom were mutants) were present for the ceremony. It was during this relocation that the group was officially renamed the ''U.S. Special Powers Command'', but for purposes of secrecy maintained the former title for all outside/non-secure interactions with the general public.
