John has shown appreciation for [[Daria]]'s help in saving Martin's life and believes that there is something going on between the two. He has chosen not to interfere, which isn't easy given his wife's horror at such a romance.
John is later shot by his wife during a psychotic episode and left to die in their burning home. He is rescued from the fire by Martin, but soon goes into coma and dies from his injuries several hours later.
