. . . oops.

An anti-'shipper is a Daria fanfic written with the specific purpose of discrediting a Daria/Trent pairing, or sometimes a Daria/Tom Sloane pairing. Generally speaking, any fanfic describing a failing relationship is an anti-'shipper, but because of the importance of Daria/Trent and Daria/Tom fanfic in this fandom, the label is usually applied only to tales attacking those types of stories. One would think that pointing out that Daria was underage throughout the TV series would be sufficient to ruin a Daria/Trent shipper, but that does not appear to be the case.

Martin J. Pollard, webmaster of Outpost Daria, gave credit in an essay for the creation of the first Daria anti-'shipper to Kara Wild, for her 1999 story, "'Shipped Out."
