Richard Lobinske speculated about a possible "Florida connection" in the creation of the series, based on several observations, particularly about Tallahassee, Florida. In that town, there is a real Chez Pierre restaurant, the Dutch Inn (sorry, no giant clog), a regular "Art in the Park" event, a public park named Governors Park, a local restaurant chain called Lindy's Fried Chicken and a street called Summer Lane. In central Florida, The Mall at Millenia is reminiscent of the Mall of the Millennium mentioned in "Malled".
