Background
Virtually nothing is known about Mrs. Margaret Manson other than she works as a school psychologist and guidance counselor for Lawndale High, although whether she has an actual degree in the field of psychology is unknown. (She doesn't have "Doctor" in front of her name, so there's no Ph.D.) She administers tests that only include a picture of two people talking, and her patients have to describe what they are talking about. Very few can decipher Margaret's psychological jargon and buzz words.
In "Esteemsters," she did not get along with Daria Morgendorffer and diagnosed her as having low self-esteem after testing her. Daria used her cynicism against Margaret's psychological mumbo-jumbo, who while testing Daria kept calling her "Dara."
In "The Daria Diaries", we see that Manson also had Daria and Quinn fill in written tests (Daria's answers deliberately taking the piss); the tests warned that writing on the back of the paper could see you classed as a "delinquent personality". We also learnt she has a recurring dream where the students turn into bloodsucking bats.
Trivia
- Margaret's only speaking appearance was in "Esteemsters." She made a few nonspeaking appearances, in "Just Add Water" and "Lucky Strike," and shows up in The Daria Diaries counseling a weeping Stacy Rowe (but paying no attention to her).
- Her voice actress is Jessica Zaino.
- Margaret's last name is possibly a reference to notorious serial killer and cult leader Charles Manson.
