Summary[edit]
The story is a flashback episode about Helen and Jake's hippie days, told by Jake during a July 4th rainstorm. The time period spans from fall of 1968 until Helen and Jake's wedding in June 1975, but focuses mainly on the years at Middleton College. Jake tells the tale of how he went from a fresh, inexperienced graduate of Buxton Ridge Military Academy to a full-fledged hippie, thanks to Helen's influence. The bulk of the narrative revolves around Jake's attempts to woo Helen.
