Morons in the Control Room

Morons in the Control Room is a 1998 essay by Michelle Klein-Hass.

The essay laments a stream of technical cock-ups in MTV's 3PM Pacific broadcasting, with the nadir being "3 solid minutes of the "slate" frame for Total Request Videos instead of "The Daria Hunter." Klein-Hass advises fans to contact MTV by mail to make their complaints heard.

It had an effect! A followup essay, Control Room Update, reported that the Daria production team were aware of the problem but needed proof to get it fixed, and fans were advised to send in bug reports.
