"Dye! Dye! My Darling" was the thirteenth episode of the fourth season of the television series Daria.
Summary
Jane's insistence that Daria help dye Jane's hair (despite Daria's attempt to refuse) sets off a chain of events that tests their friendship past the breaking point, and pushes Daria into the arms and lips of Tom Sloane.
The Kiss was probably the most controversial element introduced in the Daria series, surpassing the events in "Depth Takes a Holiday" or "Daria!" because The Kiss could not be discarded as pure fantasy.
Trivia
The title of this episode is sometimes written as "Dye! Dye! My Darling!" with the extra exclamation mark. This hearkens back to the source of the title, the British movie "Fanatic," whose U.S. title was "Die! Die! My Darling!"
"Dye! Dye! My Darling" and Fanfic
In-canon retellings of Daria episodes from other points of view are rare, but an excellent example for this one was completed by Dennis in "Tom's Eye View."
