The United States Department of Extranormal Affairs is the part of the United States Government that is tasked with dealing with unusual occurences and events on U.S. soil (obviously, an unusually wide scope of jurisdiction for a government agency). Officially formed in 1982 as part of the Bowman Acts, DEXA (the commonly-used acronym for the agency) has ties with DELPHI and the United States Academy of Extranormal Studies, but is not in direct control of either organization.

The current Director of DEXA is Brigadier General Paula Trainor, who was selected for the post over Major General Robert Bakeson.
