Mack Mackenzie wants to go to Vance, but needs to earn a scholarship to afford it. It likely has a business course, as that was what Mack complained "State University" lacked.

According to Andrew Landon, Vance is located much closer to Crestmore than Turner - thus Mack is making a sacrifice when he helps get Jodie to go to Turner, her prefered school.
